Paintball is a new sport that proves to be fun and exhilarating. The only problem with that is the game is very addicting. But if you are reading this, then you probably already knew that. Paintball pistols or handguns are a vital part of the game. Why's that you say? Well, yes, you probably have a longer barreled paintball rifle or machine gun, or a hybrid of some sort, but the original sport of paintball was played with pistols. The original paintball gun, so far as I can find, dates back to 1980. It was made by James Hale of Daisy Manufacturing and was invented to mark trees and livestock. Since men are, well men, it soon became a sport. And why not, battling it out without really killing anyone! It's just pure genius.

The first recorded game was in 1981 and was a simple capture the flag game thought up by Bob Gumsey (a sporting goods retailer), Hayes Noel (a stockbroker) and Charles Gaines (a writer). There were 12 players and they all used paintball pistols. The story claims that a guy named Ritchie White won the game without firing a single shot. And the rest, as they say, is history.

After that game, the paintball gun industry has evolved and the types of weapons used range from paintball pistols, paintball rifles and paintball sniper guns. Some people even use paintball bazookas and paintball grenades. Its modern warfare with paintballs! Even with all the advancements, paintball pistols will still be a vital part of the game because they can be used with one hand. They are also a great backup gun in any paintball battle. It can be the difference between losing and winning!

Unfortunately, in tournament play, you will most likely only be able to have one marker. And a paintball pistol is probably not your first pick, unless you want to show how extremely awesome you are. If you do happen to be playing in a tournament that allows multiple paintball markers, then a paintball handgun is a very good picture. One again, it serves as your secondary weapon, but since it can be holstered, it won't get in the way and its lighter. It is also very easy to reload.

Whatever you decide to do, be sure to consider a paintball handgun. They can make for a very fun and realistic game.
